Rabbi Abraham Ibn Ezra.
Recently learned about and read some of his work for the first time.
Just read my first poem by Robert Browning too, immediately a new favorite. I wouldn't say I've had a fascination with poetry or read many poets -- you may not see many such posts by The Dov here. But who knows?
I did thoroughly enjoy trying to 'decipher' e. e. cummings' poems as a youth. He requires thoughtful historic and literary perspective, and my grandfather, Harry Ginsberg of blessed memory, helped me piece at least one together.
However, this Browning tribute is titled 'Rabbi Ben Ezra,' and here's stanza XXII:
Now, who shall arbitrate?
Ten men love what I hate,
Shun what I follow, slight what I receive;
Ten, who in ears and eyes
Match me: we all surmise,
They this thing, and I that:
Whom shall my soul believe?
(Who indeed? - Dov)
